We will provide the following 3 files for each painting, illustration, and sketckbook page that we scan, on a CD/DVD or via a file download.
300 or 600 dpi .TIF file. Tiff file format does not compress image data and is widely compatible with almost any image editing software. This will be your master file from which all further images or reproductions will be made.
300 dpi .JPG file to size. This file will use JPG compression and will be smaller in file size but not in quality. This to size JPG will be easier to manage when creating certain images and or prints. JPG is also the most widely used file format.
72 dpi .JPG set to 400 to 600 pixels wide. This file will be named with a "_screen" file ending. Example: "flowers_screen.jpg". This file is for screen use. For emailing to clients, friends, and for posting on the web.
Here is an example of the file names created for the above painting example shown:
"superroses.tif" - master file
"superroses.jpg" - to size jpg file
"superroses_screen.jpg" - screen resolution file for email and web.
